One of the most difficult things to do when you travel abroad is to find a family friendly restaurant to eat with your kids. You need to make a huge research online or to have a local friend in order to find a venue with quality food, family friendly environment, good prices and why not good music. In Greece things are slightly better as restaurants and local tavernas usually offer traditional food suitable for kids and mild mediterrenean tastes, though there are cases where dissatisfaction is high as prices and quality at not in a balance. So, why not try something universal and totally family and kids friendly in the heart of Athens, very close to Monastiraki Square? Hard Rock Cafe Athens is a place where you can taste known and well cooked tastes and you will never regret chosing it.

During christmas holidays we had the chance to eat as a whole family to the Hard Rock Cafe Athens. My sister Kathy with her family was on vacations here with us so we grabbed the chance and decided to have our Sunday lunch at one of our favourite places to hang out with friends and family. So we booked a table and after a huge festive stroll downtown, we headed towards Hard Rock Cafe Athens, which is located at 52, Adrianou Str.

Hard Rock Cafe has over 180 locations around the world and it is open all day. In 2015 it opened its gates to the greek public. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and you can have coffe or a drink. Visitors can also book an area to have their party or other gathering and almost every month there are special events and live music for rock fans! You can be informed about the latest events throught its facebook page here and its instagram here.
Hard Rock Cafe halls
There are 3 areas where you can choose to eat. The first one has a view to the busy street of Adrianou, the second one (my favourite) is around the central bar where the atmosphere is more cosy and friendly (thought chairs need a change as I would like something more comfortable) and the third one is ideal for families with smaller kids on the upper floor.
If you visit on Sunday, you need to know that every kid can become a Roxstar! Specialised animateurs take care of your kids offering free services for facepainting and other art and crafts activities. Of course the drums area is open to host kids who want to play the drums and take a picture.

We chose the second area because our kids are teenagers (2 out of the 3) and they liked it more as it was more “adult” oriented and there were a lots of rock exhibits to explore. Among them, some clothes of Rihanna, Katie Perry and Lady Gaga (ok, these are not very Rock but definitely known to the kids).

Hard Rock Cafe Menu
Ordering at the HRC Athens is not an easy thing as burgers seem so mouthwatering and there are a lot of choices for vagetarians as well as for pasta lovers too. We decided to take a little bit of everything so our order included a salad, a combo dish with finger food, burgers and steaks. Of course for our little one, there was a kids menu too! Don’t forget that you can choose your dish to be less or more spicy and that you can add or take off any ingredient.

Hard Rock Cafe drinks
During our stay we had the chance to drink our drinks at the bar and enjoy some rock music from the past. Generally the whole atmosphere is easy going and even the waiters and the waitresses seem to enjoy what they are doing. The TV shows some legendary video-clips or rock concerts and there is no way not to have a blast from the past!
Of course HRC is famous for its Coctails. In addition, every season introduces some drinks which can be drunk either with or without alcohol. We chose the non-alcohol white chocolate milk shakes with mint for us and the kids and we welcomed the festive season!

Extras
The kids enjoyed our lunch there too as they found activities, food choices and music attractive. They all ate their meal to the last bite and for us parents was a relaxing outing as we didn’t have to figure out what to do with the kids! So, everyone happy and satisfied. And if you want to make them more happy, then why not visit the HRC “Rock Shop” where they can find their unique line of clothes and products!
